Samuel H. Fuller received his BS in EE from the Univ. of Michigan and PhD from Stanford Univ. He has been an Associate Professor of EE and CS at Carnegie-Mellon Univ., VP of Research for Digital Equipment Corp and VP of R&D and CTO for Analog Devices Inc. He has lead teams that have designed many successful computing and communication systems.

We are about to enter the 3rd exponential growth in Information & Communication Systems. What are the drivers of this growth and what are the enabling technologies? Lessons from innovations that drove earlier growth in computing and communication systems will be presented and then the challenges and opportunities in this 3rd wave of growth will be described.
